 A study on the subjective Symptoms of Fatigue about the Nurses in the General Hospitals

Abstract

In order to get basic data for evolution of nursing practice by knowing degree of fatigue of nurses, a study was carried out on 257 who were on duty at the general Hospitals in An Dong city area, the period was from April 6, to April 20, 1992, by using guestionaires as Measuration of subjictive Symptoms of fatigue.
Freguency, t-test, : ANOVA were empolyed to analyze the data collected from those respondents and following results were obtained,
1. The total mean fatigue Symptoms was 19.14, Physical fatigue Symptoms (I group) was 7. 3, mental fatigue symptoms (11 group) was 6. 19, and neuro-sensory fatigue symptoms (M group) was 5. 62, II dominant type was showed in by the order of each complain group,
2. The highest mean of fatigue symptoms was observed on the item of ´Get tired of the whole body´ in physical Symptoms, "Become weary of talking" in mental Symptoms and ´Have a headache´ in neurosensory ;symptoms.
3. 1) By the age group, the highest fatigue Symptoms group was 20^-24 Years group. (F=7.7763, P=.0001)
2) By the duration of work, the highest fatigue Symptoms group was 1 3 Years group. (F=4,,5320, P=.0041)
3) By the working ;place, the highest fatigue Symptoms group was OR Anesthesiology group (]?= 5. 2201, p=: 0001)
4) By the hours of duty, the highest fatigue Symptoms group was everting group. (F=2. 0674, P=. 1286)
5) By the married status, the highest fatigue symptoms group was unmarride group. (F=16. 9234, p=. 0001)
6) By the nursing role, the highest fatigue Symptoms group was staff nurses group. (F=7.4213, p=.0001)
7) By the work day, the highest fatigue symptoms group was Monday group. (F=2.5277, p=.0297)
8) By the satisfaction with nursing practice, the highest fatigue s=ymptoms group was unsatisfaction group. (t=11. 7874, p=. 0007)
9) By the satisfaction with work environment, the highest fatigue symptoms group was unsatisfaction group. (t=24.3517, p=. 0000)
In relation general characteristics by Fatigue Symptoms, except the hours of duty, all variances difference of means was significant.
4. By the symptoms group age, working place, married status, mussing role, satisfaction with nursing practice, satisfaction with work environment difference of means was significant.
But by the duration of work, the only mental symptoms group was significant.
